South Coast Midwifery (SCM) is looking for a student midwife to apprentice in 2025! SCM is renowned as the Nation’s only state-of-the-art birthing boutique, and Orange County's only birth center. We've been empowering birth since 1995, offering home, birth center, water and VBAC birth. Our mission is to respectfully pamper our clients and provide high quality care, combined with a nurturing and luxurious environment. In addition to our concierge-style service, SCM was Orange County's first accredited, so families can be confident their care will exceed basic safety and quality standards.
- We do 10-15 births per month
- We do home, birth center, water and VBAC births
- We do ultrasounds, NSTs, GYN care, blood draws and much more, in office
Midwife Student Preceptorship
- Orientation to the practice would be approximately 1-3 months, depending on experience
- Generally we require a minimum commitment of 6-12 months, depending on experience and fit (longer options available if a good fit)
- Student schedules can be customized, but include 24-hour call shifts + clinic days
- Students participate in chart reviews, audits, and meetings, etc.
