The Board of The Minnesota Midwives Guild (MMG) is seeking student for collaboration in developing, implementing and interpreting a statewide census/count of all midwives practicing in the state.
Minnesota is a unique state, which supports voluntary licensure and credentialing of midwives. There is currently no central entity that has kept comprehensive record of midwifery practice in the state, a state with a rich and diverse history of community-based midwifery.
For the first time in known state history, MMG is seeking to tally all practicing midwives statewide. This tally is step one in a greater effort toward discerning what the needs are for all midwives in their respective communities.
MMG is hoping to engage in collaboration with a student who possesses the technical skills needed to analyze this midwifery census project and is enthusiastic and invested in the subject matter.
We are hoping that you would present this opportunity to your students as a creditable work trade.
It is our hope that this project will lay the foundations for: midwifery history projects; a more coordinated midwifery community; more effective community organizing; and will eventually culminate in a landscape document for Minnesota midwifery.
