These sites are written to provide information for consumers. It is easily accessible information, and explanations are basic and written so that a wide variety of people can understand them.

Addiction Center: A free web information guide that connects addicts and their families with the help they need to put their lives together. Includes information on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders.

Childbirth Connection: Website designed to assist women to make informed decisions, give access to evidence-based information and help navigate their maternity care throughout their pregnancy and birth journey.

 

CHE Toxicant and Disease Database: Information on diseases caused by toxins and chemicals in the environment. Search by disease to find out what might cause it, or look at toxins to see what diseases they might cause.

It include dozens of citations of the latest research studies and external resources for pregnant women seeking mental health and addiction help.

Drugabuse.com A website with information on addictive drugs, drug abuse, signs and symptoms, treatment.

 

Drug Dangers is a website providing information about the latest lawsuits and news regarding drugs and devices that may be defective.

 

Drug Treatment Center Finder a free web-based resource hub that strives to provide the most up-to-date information and available treatment services across the nation.

US Food & Drug Administration's official website. Information on safety, approvals, recalls on food, drugs, medical devices, cosmetics and much more.

Healthline: Consumer-Friendly database with access to information about different diseases: Explore their development, and consider treatments.

Mayo Clinic: This great web site offers consumer friendly information about a number of diseases. Includes up to date news and information, and answers.

MedicineNet.com: This consumer site is aimed at bringing doctor’s knowledge to more people. You can search different conditions and diseases and learn about symptoms and treatments.

MedlinePlus: Health and medical information on a number of topics. Search diseases to learn about symptoms, treatments and more. Find out about drugs and other items related to your health and to medicine. From the National Library of Medicine.

Herbal Medicine Botanicals, Phytotherapy Medline Plus' information on Herbal Medicine Also called: Botanicals, Phytotherapy: Information on herbs, plant or plant part used for its scent, flavor, or therapeutic properties. This website contains a list of many herbal remedies/dietary supplements. Although it is not necessarily in favor of their use, it does list the use and contains information on the side effects and drug interactions.

National Partnership for Women and Families was founded in 1971 as the Women’s Legal Defense Fund, the National Partnership for Women & Families is a nonprofit, nonpartisan 501(c)3 organization located in Washington, D.C.

NORD Rare Disease Information: This database provides reports in patient-friendly language on more than 1,200 rare diseases. Each report provides a basic introduction with links to resources for additional information and assistance

QuitSmokingCommunity.org Promotes smoke-free universities and helps college students quit smoking cigarettes. They also have scholarships available.

The LactMed® database contains information on drugs and other chemicals to which breastfeeding mothers may be exposed. It includes information on the levels of such substances in breast milk and infant blood, and the possible adverse effects in the nursing infant. Suggested therapeutic alternatives to those drugs are provided, where appropriate. All data are derived from the scientific literature and fully referenced. A peer review panel reviews the data to assure scientific validity and currency.

RxDangers: Drug And Medical Device Recalls & Investigations

RxList: A list of different drugs on the Internet. You can also search by disease to find out what drugs will help specific diseases.

WebMD: The premier site for consumer information on diseases and other health issues. Search by disease, and get the latest health and medical news.
