I am a prospective student seeking 2 (or more) preceptors. I am currently based in the Los Angeles area (Pasadena). However, I am willing to relocate in order to continue my midwifery education.

I believe that my previous 2 years of midwifery education at another MEAC accredited institution and the hands-on skills that I achieved through practicum will allow me to be not only a student but a valuable asset to any midwifery practice.

Prior to embarking on my midwifery journey, I worked full time as a house manager, nanny, and private chef. In addition, to my part-time roles as an emergency room technician, nursing assistant, phlebotomist, birth doula, postpartum doula, and newborn care specialist.

I am a high energy and motivated birth worker, as well as an advocate for women’s health. I am committed to being of service in addition to furthering my education. I am eager to resume work as a student midwife.

I believe that the combination of my academic and professional experiences has equipped me with the organizational, interpersonal and analytical skills that will allow me to make a significant contribution to your practice. Thank you for your time and consideration, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Cecilia O Duncan

This is an international opportunity for midwives students.  Erin Ryan LM, CPM, MPH will be taking a small group of student midwives to participate in a workshop Haiti November 9-16 2019 to learn skills and deepen knowledge of global health

This workshop was born out of the desire to support good international volunteers. Maison de Naissance in Haiti stopped taking volunteers due to the stress and conflict it was causing their local staff but they miss the good volunteers and are cautiously interested in having people volunteer at the clinic again. After talking with them, we decided on a new approach to brining volunteers. This workshop will focus on midwives and student midwives  from the US and center the local midwives of the Maison de Naissance. By centering and honoring the expertise of the local midwives, the typical bias normally brought by international volunteers will be reduced. The Hattian midwives will teach workshops of normal birth in the low resource setting, emergencies and suturing. Students will also participate in well baby clinics and home visits. It is not our intention that students will go to births. It is the hope of the midwives that these students would be invited back to work in the clinic. Myself and Dr. Sarah McCool, a professor of Public Health will work with the students to more deeply understand global health issues, cultural competency and international research.

For this first trip we will only be taking 6 students with preference given to more senior students.  All profits will go to support the clinic.

Click here for a link to workshop website.

Please forward this opportunity to your students and feel free to contact me with any questions

This program is not affiliated with NMI.

Posting 5/29/17 Community Roots Midwife Collective (CRMC) is a group of dedicated, trained midwives providing homebirth midwifery services to people in or near Boulder County. We recognize that our poor, immigrant, and communities of color are those that have the least access to our care. Posting 5/23/17 Staff Midwife and Student Affairs Coordinator at Birthwise Midwifery School

Birthwise is growing and we want you to grow with us! We're looking for two new staff members – a supervising midwife in our freestanding birth center/home birth practice and a Student Affairs administrator – who embody Birthwise's values of excellence, compassion, empowerment and social justice and want to work with the school to further its mission.

MIDWIFERY POSITION

Birthwise Midwifery School is looking for an experienced, compatable, and personable Staff Midwife to join our staff at The Birth House. The Birth House is a community clinic and birth center that offers holistic midwifery care, including home birth and birth center birth, to the families of Southwestern Maine and the Mount Washington Valley region of New Hampshire.

The Birth House is also a service-learning opportunity for Birthwise Midwifery School students. Besides attending births, the staff midwife will work closely with passionate student midwives at the community clinic. The ideal candidate will be a leader who enjoys supervising and teaching students.

QUALIFICATIONS: We're looking for a CPM, CM or CNM with at least 8 years of experience in clinical midwifery practice and experience working with students. Successful candidates must live, or be willing to relocate to, within 30 minutes of Bridgton, Maine.

COMMITMENT: This position is part time, with the potential for expanded hours dependent of increasing volume of clients. The center currently serves 2-3 clients per month. Qualified, engaging candidates are also eligible to join the Birthwise Midwifery School faculty part-time to fill out their hours.

PAY: Compensation includes a small base pay for administrative duties, plus a rate for clinical encounters which is dependent on the volume of care. Benefits include professional liability insurance coverage, paid time off, and at least two months off-call annually.

STUDENT AFFAIRS COORDINATOR

Birthwise Midwifery School is looking for a personable, organized, and tech-savvy Student Affairs Coordinator to coordinate and expand Birthwise's recruitment and admissions processes, to run student services, to plan events, and to serve as a student council liaison.

Birthwise is a three-year midwifery school founded in Bridgton, Maine in 1994. Built on the principles of empowerment, natural birth, skilled professionalism and birthing justice, it offers one of the first comprehensive training programs for direct-entry midwives in the United States.

This administrative position would involve working closely with prospective and current midwifery students at every step of their journey. The Student Affairs Coordinator will be an approachable and competent point-of-contact for all students.

QUALIFICATIONS: We're looking for someone with a Bachelor’s degree in any field and, preferably, experience working in higher education. We will give priority to candidates with a CPM credential.

COMMITMENT: This is a 20 hour/week administrative position. Remote work is possible, but candidates must be available to work on campus when necessary. Qualified, engaging candidates who are midwives are also eligible to join the Birthwise Midwifery School faculty part-time to fill out their hours.

PAY: Compensation starts at $20-24 per hour, dependent on experience. Benefits include paid time off and simple IRA retirement contributions.
